We leave the hot and dry Ankarana and travel on towards the Montagne d’Ambre. The way there is actually not far, but quite long because of the poor condition of the road. We have to be at the campground in the middle of the rainforest before nightfall, because we want to camp there. The Montagne d’Ambre is one of our favourite rainforests in Madagascar. Not only because there are so many chameleons here, but also because it is relatively easy to walk through and camping here is simply fantastic and a lot of fun. The rainforest of the Montagne d’Ambre lies at over 1000 m, so it can get quite cool here in the evening – in any case, 22°C is quite cool when you have just come from 35°C and more. But there are ways to warm up…
